What this policy covers.
This policy applies when you visit our website, request the Investor Guide, submit an enquiry, email us, or communicate with us about a potential project, partnership, site, care or commissioner need, investment, stewardship question, or other business matter.
Please do not submit detailed health, care, safeguarding, financial, criminal-record, or other sensitive personal information through the general website forms. If sensitive information is required for a particular discussion, we will explain an appropriate route for providing it.
Information we collect.
Investor Guide requests
First name, email address, request record, and related correspondence.
General enquiries
First name, last name, email address, selected area of interest, message, and any information you choose to include.
Business communications
Contact details, organisation, role, correspondence, meeting notes, and records relevant to the discussion or opportunity.
Website use
WordPress.com or Jetpack may collect technical and usage information including IP address, browser type, device identifiers, language preference, referring site, access time, operating system, network information, approximate location, interactions, cookie identifiers, and security or diagnostic logs.
We may also receive relevant professional information from a networking platform you use to contact us, from an introduction, or from a publicly available professional or business source.
How and why we use information.
We use personal information to provide the Investor Guide, respond to enquiries, route a conversation to the appropriate person, assess and manage potential or active business relationships, operate and secure the website, maintain appropriate records, protect legal rights, and meet legal or regulatory requirements.
Our lawful bases are normally our legitimate interests in responding to requests and managing and protecting our business, steps requested before entering a contract, performance of a contract, legal obligation, and consent where legally required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies.
Submitting an enquiry or requesting the guide does not automatically add you to a recurring marketing list. If we introduce newsletters or other recurring electronic marketing, we will provide a separate choice where required and explain how to unsubscribe.
Required information.
Fields marked as required are needed to provide the service you requested. Without them, we may be unable to send the guide, respond to an enquiry, or progress a discussion. You are not under a statutory or contractual obligation to use the website forms.
Who we share information with.
We may share personal information where reasonably necessary with:
- Automattic and relevant group companies that provide WordPress.com, Jetpack, website hosting, form storage and delivery, security, diagnostics, and related platform services;
- our IT, email, professional-networking, and communications providers;
- professional advisers, insurers, auditors, and service providers who need the information to support us;
- relevant project partners, counterparties, funders, Registered Providers, care providers, commissioners, and advisers, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection safeguards; and
- courts, regulators, law-enforcement bodies, public authorities, or other parties where disclosure is required or permitted by law, or needed to protect rights, property, safety, or security.
We do not sell personal information.
International transfers.
WordPress.com states that data associated with a site may be stored on servers in the United States and the European Union and cannot be restricted to one geographic location. WordPress.com makes a Data Processing Agreement available to site owners and states that it includes standard contractual clauses for transfers to Automattic and its subsidiaries.
Where personal information is transferred outside the United Kingdom and the destination is not covered by UK adequacy regulations, we will use an appropriate safeguard where required, such as approved contractual clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism.

How long we keep information.
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to a request, manage an active or reasonably anticipated relationship, meet legal or accounting requirements, resolve disputes, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We periodically review enquiry, guide-request, and relationship records and delete or anonymise them when there is no longer an active purpose or legal reason to retain them. A record may be kept longer where a discussion becomes an active project or contractual relationship, a complaint or claim is anticipated, or a legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory requirement applies.
Automattic states that web-server logs and IP addresses used for WordPress.com Site Stats are generally retained for approximately 30 days.
Cookies and similar technologies.
WordPress.com and Jetpack may use cookies, pixels, or similar technologies to deliver, secure, and measure the website. Some technologies may be strictly necessary for security, network management, or a service you request. Where consent is legally required for a non-essential technology, it should not be set until you have made an active choice.
Cookie information for the launched site will explain the technologies in use and the controls available to you. Browser controls can also restrict or delete cookies, although doing so may affect website functionality.
Security.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorised access, or disclosure. We limit access to people and providers who need the information for an authorised purpose.
No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please do not include unnecessary sensitive information in a general website form.
Your rights.
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have the right to access your personal information, correct inaccurate or incomplete information, request erasure, request restriction, object to processing based on legitimate interests, receive certain information in a portable format, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Your right to object: You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. You also have an absolute right to object to direct marketing.

Automated decisions and children.
We do not use information collected through the website to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
The website is intended for professional and business audiences and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has provided information through the site, please contact us.
External links and changes.
External websites and professional-networking services control their own processing. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
We may update this policy when the website, our services, providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised version with a new effective date and take additional steps to draw attention to a material change where appropriate.
